So my friend and I are both getting winter cars very soon, and without giving too much away, we're going to have a challenge. One of the categories will be a drag race, with others including the original purchase price, and the amount of loss/profit at the end of winter, if any. Should I have any other categories?

Are you in SE Michigan, and if so, CrzRsn would like to join.
If you're feeling adventurous, you could find a local ice race!

Pothole test. Full cup of fresh coffee in the cupholder. Whoever gets to work with the most coffee on their lap/carpet/seat/console loses. No intervening allowed. If the cup tips, no grabbing for it.

I'm actually planning on making a profit on mine, so it'd have to be one like on Roadkill where it's 0 contact.
As for SE Michigan, we're from Western New Hampshire (me) and Eastern Vermont (him).

how about the amount of wheelspin you get from a dead start on ice and solid ground?

Is wheelspin a positive or a negative in this challenge?

That should be incentive enough to win, no?

Rallycross.

here's the twist. On tarmac, it's a positive, because 11's (or 1 wheel peels) on the ice, it's a negative. you will leave ESC on (if the cars have it) and see which car spins more or less.
You'll take the length of the 11's on tarmac as poisitive points, and the length of wheelspin on ice/snow as negative points.

Poll members of opposite sex and see which is "cooler"
Dyno test them vs stock horsepower

But do it in the other person's car so they can't sandbag for the ice part, right?

Dyno might be a little out of budget, but I drive through Dartmouth College everyday, so women are probably available for that test.

Thats cheating. Just think of the consequences of losing as motivation for winning.
Bring an extra change in a sealed plastic bag and you'll be safe.
Just explain that your current state was the result of a friendly gentleman's competition, and say they should see the other guy. Get changed, and go about your day.

yeah. Basically go WOT on both surfaces. you drive your own for the tarmac one, and you drive theirs for the ice part.

Right now, it's looking like I will have a manual trans and he'll have an auto, so I feel pretty good about this challenge.
